Do you feel stuck in painful memories or find yourself reacting to situations with overwhelming emotions that you just can’t shake? Maybe you’ve tried to move past old wounds, but certain triggers still keep pulling you back. You’re not alone—this is a common experience, especially for those who’ve faced trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, or family patterns. EMDR therapy can help you reprocess these difficult experiences, allowing your mind and body to heal so you can finally move forward with clarity and calm.

What exactly is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people heal from trauma by using bilateral movements, such as eye movements or tapping, to reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories. The therapy is structured into multiple phases and stages, guiding clients through the safe processing of difficult experiences, ultimately helping them feel less triggered and more emotionally balanced.

What does a typical session look like?

A typical EMDR session depends on which phase or stage you're in, but it usually starts with checking in on your current feelings and experiences. If you're in the early phases, we may focus on building resources, such as grounding techniques and emotional safety. In the later stages, we’ll use bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to help you process distressing memories or triggers. Throughout, the pace is guided by your comfort and readiness to move forward. Each session is tailored to where you are in the healing process.
